Hello:
Firefighters for Kids sincerely thanks everyone who has participated in the past three Brian Kilrea Help Kids Golf Classic tournaments and those who have signed up for the 2009 event. While we have had three years of tremendous success – we had great times, great golfing, good food, lots of prizes and more important: we raised lots of money for underprivileged children in our community – we regretfully announce that this year’s tournament has been cancelled.
Participation and sponsorship levels have been nothing less than impressive over the past three years and demonstrates a clear commitment by our community to rallying together to help our city’s children’s charities. However, many have been hit by today’s economic downturn and our beloved charity is no exception.
As a result, as a temporary measure we have decided to put this year’s tournament on hold. I am sure we will come back stronger than ever next year and look forward to your continued support. As an option, although we do not have a tournament this year, if you want to make a contribution that will go directly to our children’s charities, please feel free to do so.
In addition to our participants and generous sponsors, I want to say a very special thank you to Brian Kilrea who graciously gave his name and time to the event. His generosity was the primary reason that we were such a success in our inaugural year and subsequent tournaments. In addition, the Ottawa 67s made a significant contribution in terms of players and staff time, and prize contribution. What a team!
And to all of our celebrity golfers we thank you for your time and for making this event truly top notch – many came in from out of town and did so at their own expense.
As you can see the support for this initiative has been nothing short of impressive. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
Any registration payments will be mailed out in full in the next few weeks.
